![]() ![]() I’ll definitely be reading more thrillers. This is a thriller and it’s probably the first I’ve read. I normally don't like high school drama (they sometimes seem so cliche) or romance books, but this book is different. The beginning of the book is probably one of the best hooks I’ve ever read. Despite all the mixed reviews I’ve seen for this book, I actually really enjoyed it! The world is futuristic and I loved reading about all the different cool items and gadgets that the author had created for her universe. ![]() When I first picked up this book, I was compelled by the aesthetic cover. But yet, she was tormented by one thing in her world out of reach. The story is about the baby girl kidnapped by her own dad just to get millions of money as a ransom from his father-in-law and consequently to get his business thrive again and then he would get his baby back and no one gets hurt. The first time the book from Shari Lapena landed on my hands and it never faltered in any way(!). ![]() You've got to be hard-headed and have nerves of steel to make it till 300th page of this book. ![]() ![]() The albatross about my neck stirred, flapping its wings and fanning the flames of my guilt. ![]() ![]() I watched her face, shining with hope and eagerness as Roshani and Marie gave their answers. Like the three of us, this teenager was also of Asian descent. A young woman-a teenager-raised her hand and asked, “How does being Asian influence your writing?” We gave answers both earnest and glib to those who asked us where we got our inspiration, how we came to be published, what our writing process was like, until we got to the final question of the evening.
